Lekki Seaport to become regional hub – ICRC chief

The Acting Director-General of the Infrastructure Concession Regulatory Commission, Chidi Izuwah, says the Lekki Deep Water Port, once completed, will become a regional hub for port operations in West Africa. Eyes Of Lagos gathered that, Izuwah said this on the sidelines of the commission’s monitoring visit to the Lekki Deep Water Port on Saturday in Lagos to have an on-the-spot assessment of the ongoing project. Hackers steal $400 million from cryptocurrency exchange

One of Japan’s largest cryptocurrency exchanges has revealed that it’s lost nearly $400 million in a security breach. Coincheck says that it has restricted deposits and withdrawals for a cryptocurrency called NEM, and Bloomberg reports that 500 million NEM tokens have been sent from the company “illicitly,” and that it’s not sure how. The company has since suspended most trading and withdrawals, and is working to trace where the missing digital currency ended up. In a Tweet, the exchange said that it was considering compensating those who lost money. Nigerian Air Force (NAF) fighter aircraft has killed several Boko Haram terrorists who were poised to interfere with ongoing operations in the Sambisa general area. Over 25,000 pensioners not on FG payroll – NUP

More than 25,000 pensioners are still excluded from the Federal Government’s payroll of retirees, according to the Nigerian Union of Pensioners (NUP). Lagos Chapter Chairman of NUP, Joseph Dele, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Sunday that the affected pensioners were not among over 300,000 paid under Defined Benefits Scheme and Contributory Pension Scheme. The NUP urged federal government to mandate the Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate (PTAD) to conduct verification exercise for the affected pensioners to enable them get gratuities for their long years of service. Nigeria Needs Over 120,000km Of Fiber Network To Boost Broadband —NCC

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) says the country needs more than 120,000 kilometres of metropolitan fiber networks interconnected across the country to achieve its goal pervasive broadband penetration.
