Michael Owen Shares His Thoughts on Forest’s Striker Choice: Awoniyi or Wood

Nottingham Forest’s attack has impressed former Liverpool player Michael Owen, who thinks manager Nuno Espírito Santo has a tough choice between strikers Chris Wood and Taiwo Awoniyi.  Eyes Of Lagos reports,

In Forest’s strong 3-0 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers on Monday, both strikers played key roles. Wood, who has been in great form this season, scored his 12th goal in 20 Premier League games with a well-placed shot from Callum Hudson-Odoi’s assist just before halftime.

Awoniyi, who has been on the bench due to Wood’s strong performances, also made an impact. Coming on in the 88th minute, the Nigerian striker scored his first goal of the season in added time, finishing a smart pass from James Ward-Prowse.

Owen, speaking about the match on Premier League Productions, praised the team’s depth and suggested that manager Espírito Santo now faces a difficult decision.

“Awoniyi was scoring goals like Chris Wood last season, but now he can’t get into the team, which is understandable,” Owen said.

“It’s a nice problem to have, to choose between those two and have players who can come on and make a difference.”

Owen also highlighted how important it is for the team to keep their players fit.

The victory was Nottingham Forest’s sixth straight Premier League win, a club record, and pushed them up to third place in the league, behind Liverpool and Arsenal.
