Seven persons comprising of three Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), a civilian JTF and three suicide bombers, a male and two females, were yesterday killed while eight others sustained various degrees of injuries in suicide bomb attack at Umarari Village, near molai general hospital, along Damboa road in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital.
A statement issued to newsmen, in Maiduguri by the public relations officer of the Borno State Police command, DSP Victor Isuku, said the three bombers, a male and two females attempted to infiltrate Maiduguri town through Umarari village in molai general area when they were sighted by civilian JTF who challenged them and in the process, the bombers ran into different directions and detonated the IED. strapped to their bodies.
“At about 2100 hrs of 18/3/2917, 3 suicide bombers, a male and two females, attempted to infiltrate Maiduguri town through Umarari village in Molai general area.“They were sighted by civilian JTF and challenged. They detonated the IEDs strapped to their bodies while running to different directions.
“Four people which include a Civilian JTF, a woman and her two children died while eight others sustained injuries, and have been taken to hospital,” he said.
LEADERSHIP recalls that Molai and Muna- garage areas which are close to two major IDPs Camps in Maiduguri have been notorious as entry points of suicide bombers in recent days hence the need for security agencies to carry out general combing of the axis for possible clue to their hideouts.
