The ongoing trial of a former governor of Oyo State, Chief Rashidi Ladoja over an alleged N4.7 billion fraud before the Federal High Court in Lagos was stalled due to the absence of the judge, Justice Mohammed Idris.
Justice Idris, just like other judges of the court, was said to be outside the state on a one-day training organised for judges of the Federal High Court by the Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria.
Following the development, the trial is now to hold March 31, 2017.
Ladoja was arraigned before the court alongside one of his aides, Waheed Akanbi by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on an amended eight count charge of money laundering and unlawful conversion of funds belonging to Oyo State to their personal use.
The anti-graft agency alleged that the duo converted the sum of N1,932,940,032.48 belonging to Oyo State to their personal use, using a Guaranty Trust Bank account of a company, Heritage Apartments Limited.
