As parts of activities to mark the Democracy Day celebrations and the Navy anniversary, the Nigerian Navy has said it would open its ships across all naval bases to people, seeking to explore the sea.
The Navy Chief of Policy and Plans, Rear Admiral Henry Babalola, stated this in a briefing in Abuja, adding that this would be followed by sea trips, where Nigerians could appreciate how the navy monitored the oil installations.
He said, “On May 29, being the Democracy Day, our ships will be open to visitors. This is to commemorate the national celebration, which also collides with the Navy’s 61st anniversary.
“It is our tradition during our celebrations to invite as many people as can come, and take round our ships. We explain the functions to them and this serves as sort of an excursion. Thus, the naval bases in Lagos, Calabar, Warri and Port Harcourt will be open to Nigerians to visit and explore.”
