The fox and the cock by Alphonso Olasumbo(English and Yoruba version)

Once upon a time in the wonderland of the animals, the fox was very much afraid of the cock. Anytime the cock appeared, the fox took to his heels running for his dear life.
This surprised the cock so much he began to wonder “what could be the reason for fox’s action.” The cock made up his mind to find out.
One day as usual, the cock was wooing his wife when the fox suddenly stumbled on them, he shouted and took to his heels and the cock flew after him. The fox began to wail and shout begging the cock to have mercy on him.
The cock then told the fox to stop and tell him why he thought he would be harmed by him. The fox continued to beg for mercy saying ” please don’t harm me, you that carry red hot fire on your head every day of your life without being burnt, what will happen to me if you get near me and burn me with the fire on your head? “Ah ah ah ah ah, fox you can’t be serious” and as he answered  he tried moving closer to the fox but the fox was totally. cowered that he started begging the cock all over again.
The cock then told the fox that he never knew that the fox was so foolish and that the crown on his head was no fire but a piece of meat designed by Orisanla to beautify him and make him attractive to his female species. He then beckoned the fox to come near him and feel it as it was as cold as ice.
The fox then gathered courage to move  closer to the cock.
Slowly, he got closer , he felt no heat, he then gained more courage to stretch forth his limb to feel the crown. Alas! It was cold, immediately the fox jumped on the cock tore of his crown, swallowed it and “hmmmm how delicious and then he tore the cock into pieces and ate him up and he declared ” what a delicious meal?, it’s even more delicious than any I have ever had”.
And ever since that day, the fox has been eating all species of chicken.
