The Lagos State governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, has commenced the rehabilitation of Igbogbo-Bola Tinubu-Igbe road in Igbogbo-Bayeku Local Council Development Area (LCDA) of the state.
EYES OF LAGOS learnt that, The commencement of the project was announced at a stakeholders meeting where Ambode stated that his administration is committed to constructing motorable roads that would enhance ease of doing business in the state.
Represented by the Commissioner for Commerce, Industry and Co-operatives, Mr. Rotimi Ogunleye, the governor noted that the construction is part of the state’s infrastructure development vision.
He stressed hat the road would also provide investment friendly environment and will improve public safety through reduction in travel time, vehicle maintenance, transportation cost and better standard of living.
Furthermore, Ambode stated that the road would serve as a link to Ijede, Gberigbe, Imota where the state government has established a Rice Mill turning out 32 million metric tons daily.
In his speech, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Works and Infrastructure, Olujimi Hotonu, enumerated the scope of the project to include dual carriageway road (two lanes in each direction), seven standard laybys on each side of the road, dedicated lanes for cyclists and pedestrians, provision of longitudinal and transverse service ducts and construction of three pedestrian bridges, reinforced concrete drainages, culvert, signages, traffic signal light and streetlight.
In his remarks, the Ayangburen of Ikorodu, Oba Kabiru Shotobi, seized the opportunity to advise landowners to keep their land, as the road would add value to their property while soliciting their cooperation and monitoring of the projects against miscreants.
