Damaturu – Hon. Sabo Garbu (PDP), a member of the House of Representatives, has shortlisted a total of three thousand one hundred and fifty (3,150) youths from the 21 electoral wards of Nangere/Potiskum Constituency in Yobe state for Computer training and the 2018 coaching of the United Tertiary Matriculation Examinations (UTME) conducted by JAMB.
Musa Iliyasu Yusuf, one of the resource persons told Eyes Of Lagos that the lawmaker has invested millions of naira for the exercise.
He said the programme is to enable beneficiaries to study how to approach the e-examination which would enable them to score higher points during the examination and gain admission into tertiary institutions.
According to him, the Lawmaker partnered Federal College of Education (Technical), Potiskum for the training at the College’s Virtual Library.
Iliyasu further explained that the training which commenced on 25th December 2017 will end on the 4th February, 2018.
He said, “The lawmaker was concerned with the challenges being faced by the candidates in writing the JAMB examinations every year, here in Potiskum the examination center is inadequate and overpopulated thus forcing many of the candidates to travel outside the state before writing the JAMB.
“Sabo Garbu is heavily concerned with the future of the youths in his constituency since the country is diversifying her economy, the need to study modern agriculture, high tech computer, engineering and other marketable courses cannot be over-emphasized”.
He said that the entire state would benefit from what they acquired stressing further that the lawmaker would also sponsor all the expenses involved in the exercise.
Alhaji Muhammed Isa, one of the parents of the beneficiary laud the initiative of the lawmaker, recalling that a similar gesture was enjoyed by the youths that were trained by the computer center he sponsored.
