Why I hope Jose Mourinho stays at Manchester United, explains David Seaman

Jose Mourinho is under increasing pressure as Manchester United legends Rio Ferdinand and Paul Scholes question the manager.
United have now gone four home games without victory after Tuesday evening’s 0-0 stalemate against Valencia.

Speaking on BT Sport before the Champions League tie, Scholes slammed Mourinho’s behaviour in the media.

He’s coming out in press conferences and constantly having a go at
players, he is having a go at people above him because he’s not getting
what he wants. I think his mouth is probably out of control and I think
he is embarrassing the club,” he said.

And after the game, Ferdinand questioned Mourinho’s future.

“I think you ask Jose Mourinho if he wants to stick with the job.
What he is saying with his actions….he’s asking for it (the sack),” he
said. “This is his team now. He’s had a few windows to build up his
team. He can’t complain at this stage.”

However, Arsenal legend David Seaman has backed the boss, saying he
hopes Mourinho survives the current pressure to remain at Old Trafford.

“It’s not good when a player of that stature (Scholes) is having a
right go at Mourinho,” he told Talksport. “It’s a little bit surprising
but whenever you speak to anybody about it, they don’t know what to say
and everybody seems to be against Mourinho.

“When you get Rio and Scholesy have a right go on TV, it’s not good.
Something’s got to give and I hope it’s not Mourinho. I know a lot of
fans won’t like that but if Mourinho gets the boot, then player power
has won and I’m not a big fan of that.

“The way they’re playing is demoralising. When you look at the
team-sheet, it’s class and it should be doing better. The players should
be doing better.”
