Dani Alves’ €1 million bail will be paid by Neymar’s father

Dani Alves is scheduled to be released from prison this week after allegedly convincing Neymar’s father to pay his €1 million (£850,00/$1.09m) bail.

According to Marca, Neymar’s father has agreed to pay the bond required to free Alves from detention. The former Barcelona full-back received a four-and-a-half year prison sentence after being convicted guilty of sexual assault. Eyes Of Lagos reports,

Due to the freezing of his accounts during the legal proceedings, the full-back was unable to make the required bail payment. But according to La Vanguardia [via BeSoccer], Neymar’s father will have to put down the €1 million bond, allowing the former football player to be freed from detention later this week.

Neymar is said to have submitted €150,000 as “mitigating compensation for damage caused” to the Spanish courts on August 9. On Thursday, he was given a minimum term of four years, and it’s thought that this payment had a big impact on how long the sentence was.

Alves’s legacy, which was previously moulded by his achievements with Barcelona, has now been overshadowed by his unlawful acts. Notably, he is the player with 43 professional football trophies, second only to Lionel Messi’s (44). If granted bail, he will be under house arrest for the next three years of his sentence.
