According to an eyewitness, the reason for Jr. Pope’s death was the boat drivers’ attempt to take a “cruise” on the sea, which caused their two boats to collide.
The young man, who is also a movie producer, revealed the specifics of the events in a live video posted on Instagram.
Stanley, the man who goes by that name, explained that the incident really happened on their way home from the movie location. Eyes Of Lagos reports,

In a bid to be impressive and show off, the boat drivers were swerving dangerously on the water which led to a crash of the boats.
He added that the speed boat guys did not have the life jackets and they are normally rented out by another set of people.
Stanley admitted that the death of the actor and other crew members was simply as a result of negligence.
Further more, he revealed that when the accident occurred, the wife was immediately called to the scene and saw them carrying her husband’s lifeless body out of the water.
He stated that about more people are still missing under the water and they would be going back the next day to find them.
