Just a few days before his birthday, on Sunday, August 11, 2024, it is revealed that well-known Tanzanian Bongo Flava musician Mandojo passed away due to being falsely identified as a thief.
The well-known performer, who is well known for the hits “Nikupe” and “Dingi,” was fatally battered in a manner that stunned his supporters and admirers.
Soggy Doggy, a fellow artist, verified Mandojo’s passing and shared his profound grief on social media. Eyes Of Lagos reports,
“My heart is in great pain; I will miss you very much my brother and friend. Rest in peace, Mandojo. Surely, human life is very short on this earth. Sorry to brothers, relatives, and friends, and I’m very sorry my brother @domokayatz. God’s work has no mistakes,” Soggy Doggy wrote.
Tributes also poured in from Domo Kaya, a close friend and colleague of Mandojo. In a heartfelt post, Kaya lamented the timing of the tragedy.
“Daaaah MY SON, I don’t believe the 22nd of this month is supposed to be your birthday. Aisee, why! This is so sad. Rest in peace, may God give you eternal light, friend, brother,” Domo Kaya wrote.
Mandojo’s death comes just days before what would have been his birthday on August 22.
