See the true reason behind Anthony Joshua’s boxing suspension

A 28-day medical suspension has been imposed on Anthony Joshua in the wake of his devastating knockout loss to fellow British boxer Daniel Dubois last week.

In front of a raucous 96,000 spectators at Wembley Stadium, Joshua was stopped by Dubois in the fifth round of the bout. Eyes Of Lagos reports,

After Joshua was knocked down four times in the fight, Dubois was able to keep his IBF heavyweight title.

In order to protect his health and safety following the knockdown, Joshua will be prohibited from entering the ring for 28 days by the British Boxing Board of Control (BBBofC).

For fighters who lose via knockout, this ban is common procedure; the Association of Boxing Commissions and Combative Sports (ABC) enforces medical suspensions to give fighters enough time to heal. The regulation prohibits any quick return to action following a significant loss in order to prioritize fighter safety.

Regarding his plans for the recuperation phase and his boxing career prospects, Joshua’s camp has not yet provided any information. Dubois’ triumph, meanwhile, has solidified his place among the world’s best heavyweight fighters.

The boxing world is currently waiting to see what Joshua will do next, with many speculating that he would contend for another title after the required healing period.
