The man who blackmailed Tinubu will face charges from the police

A young man who attempted to get President Bola Tinubu to resign last Friday by threatening suicide will face charges from the police.

The young man, who had scaled a 33kv high tension pole in the Mayo-Belwa Local Government Area headquarters and demanded President Bola Tinubu’s resignation before he would down, was rescued and taken into custody by the Adamawa State Police Command on Saturday night. Eyes Of Lagos reports,

SP Suleiman Nguruje, the Public Relations Officer for the command, exclusively told PUNCH Metro on Sunday night that the man—whose identity was withheld by the police—was saved on Saturday night and is currently being held in the state capital.

“We will charge him in court and the command will parade him today (Monday) for attempting suicide. As you are aware, this is a criminal offense under our constitution,” the man stated.

Nguruje asserted that the police had a constitutional obligation to safeguard people and their property and that anyone attempting to commit suicide would be met with the full force of the law.

Remember how the young man ascended the 33 kv high tension section of the Yola-Jalingo highway on Friday morning, the day of the Mayo Belwa market, and insisted that he wouldn’t down until the President left the presidential villa?

Additionally, it was alleged that the Adamawa State Police Command hired locals to help them persuade the man to come down on Saturday night.

The individual is reportedly being held in protective custody at the Adamawa Police Command’s Criminal Investigating Department.

Remember that the man’s prosecution for reportedly attempting suicide would eclipse his attempt to coerce President Tinubu into resigning from office.
