Elon Musk once again captivated the audience during Tesla’s much awaited Cybercab event by showcasing ground-breaking inventions like the Tesla Robovan, Robotaxi, and Optimus humanoid robot.
With his most recent designs, Musk’s futuristic and technologically advanced vision of a robotic future became more real than ever. Eyes Of Lagos reports,
The show’s high point came when a group of Optimus robots emerged alongside the brand-new Tesla Robovan. This gave the audience a startling glimpse of the society that Elon Musk envisions, one in which electric, self-driving cars coexist with humanoid robots performing daily duties.
Optimus’s Ascent: A Robot for Everyday Use
The Optimus robot was demonstrated performing basic but significant functions in a companion movie, which may eventually lead to its widespread use in homes.
The robot demonstrated its versatility by performing tasks such as watering plants and removing parcels from the porch with ease.
Musk joked during the event, “The Optimus will walk amongst you,” teasing the idea of these robots becoming as common as household appliances. He even added with characteristic humour, “You’ll be able to walk right up to them, and they will serve drinks.”
Although the live demonstration didn’t show Optimus fully engaging in complex activities, attendees witnessed the robots performing simple actions like waving, handing out small gift bags, and playing rock-paper-scissors with guests.
There was even a gazebo where multiple Optimus robots were seen dancing together, offering a glimpse of their range of mobility.
How much is Elon Musk’s Optimus Humanoid
According to Musk, Optimus will eventually be priced between $20,000 and $30,000, making it a product aimed at broader commercial and residential use.
Robovan and Robotaxi: Tesla’s Next Leap in Autonomous Transport
Alongside the humanoid robots, Tesla also revealed the Robovan and Robotaxi, a long-awaited vehicle designed for shared, autonomous transport.
Elon Musk’s vision for the Robovan focuses on efficiency and sustainability, catering to families, and small businesses, and potentially becoming a key player in autonomous ridesharing networks.
This vehicle could serve as the backbone for Musk’s long-term vision of fleets of Robotaxis operating autonomously in urban centres.
