Actor Pa Charles Olumo Sanyaolu, affectionately known as Agbako, died at the age of 101, leaving the Yoruba cultural community and Nigerian film industry in mourning.
Following a brief time of exhaustion, the renowned actor, whose career left an enduring impression on Nigerian cinema, passed away early Thursday morning. Eyes Of Lagos reports,
His passing was confirmed by the President of the Theatre Arts and Motion Pictures Association of Nigeria (TAMPAN), Mr Latin on Instagram.
Without stating the circumstances of his demise, Mr Latin revealed that Agbako’s burial details would soon be shared by his family and association.
“@tampanglobal announces the passing of Pa Charles Olumo Sanyaolu, fondly known as AGBAKO. Details of the burial arrangements will be shared at a later time. Good night father, 25/02/1923 to 31/10/2024,” he wrote.
The news was further confirmed by Nollywood veteran Jide Kosoko, prompting a wave of condolences from actors, filmmakers, and fans across Nigeria and beyond.
