Edo residents to enjoy free rides in the state

Residents of Edo State are set to benefit from free transportation services across three Senatorial districts and within the Benin metropolis. This announcement was made by Governor Monday Okpebholo in a statement released by his Chief Press Secretary, Fred Itua, on Tuesday. Eyes Of Lagos reports,

The initiative is part of Governor Okpebholo’s commitment to enhance his administration’s policy goals. The free bus services will be operated by the Edo City Transport Service and will cover both intra-city and inter-city routes, facilitating travel throughout the Benin metropolis and the surrounding Senatorial districts.

The statement highlighted the benefits of this program, indicating that it aims to alleviate transportation challenges for residents. “Our people who plan to move around within the Benin metropolis and beyond will be able to do so without any additional financial burdens,” it read.

Specific areas included in the free transportation service are in Edo Central, such as Ekpoma, Iruekpen, Irrua, Uromi, and other locations. Additionally, the program fully incorporates Edo North, covering towns like Agbede, Auchi, Okpella, Fugar, and others.
