Nollywood actor Yemi Solade has shared his frustration after his award was withdrawn by event organizers because he refused to pay for the award plaque. Eyes Of Lagos reports,
Posting on Instagram, the veteran actor shared screenshots of a chat with one of the organizers. He criticized the practice, saying he doesn’t belong to the group of actors who “buy” awards.
In the leaked chat, the organizer wrote:
“Good morning sir, I hope you had a good night. I passed your response about sponsorship to the management. Unfortunately, it didn’t go well with them. They also mentioned the cost of the plaques. Because of this, you can attend the event, but the award plaque might not be presented to save costs. Thank you for your understanding, sir.”
Captioning the post, Solade wrote: “I refused to pay for the AWARD PLAQUE. This is the outcome.”
The revelation has sparked conversations online, with many fans and colleagues applauding him for standing against what they termed an unethical practice, while others criticized the organizers for their approach.
