In a viral post on X (formerly Twitter), the man recounted how his friend, instead of attending his traditional wedding ceremony, went to the betting shop and used the money meant for the bride price to place virtual bets while his bride waited for him. He wrote: “My friend didn’t show up early for his traditional wedding. My bro went to a Bet9ja shop to gamble with the bride price money. He called us later to brag about what he did.”
The incident reportedly took place on the same day of the wedding, and after losing the money, the groom reached out to his friends for help.
