Man Arrested for Shooting His Friend

A man identified as Obinna Nwigwe has been arrested by the FCT Police Command for allegedly shooting his friend, Andrew Philemon, during an argument in Abuja.

The arrest was confirmed in a statement by FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, on Tuesday.Β  Eyes Of Lagos reports,

According to the statement, the incident occurred on December 26, 2024, at Najob Guest House in Bwari. Nwigwe, 33, reportedly shot his 29-year-old friend, Philemon, during a heated argument.

Describing the incident as both disturbing and violent, Adeh revealed that the police responded to a distress call reporting gunfire. When officers arrived at the scene, they found Philemon critically injured from a gunshot wound. Nwigwe, who was armed with a pump-action rifle, claimed he acted in self-defense after the argument escalated.

β€œPolice officers swiftly responded to the distress call and arrested Obinna Nwigwe at the scene. A search of his residence later revealed a shocking cache of weapons,” Adeh stated.

The investigation is ongoing as authorities seek to uncover the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
