The Lagos State Government has shut down a school after the tragic death of a two-year-old student in a swimming pool incident. Eyes Of Lagos reports,
The child’s mother took to social media, demanding justice and answers. She revealed that her daughter, a student at Smiley Kids Montessori School in Sangotedo, Lagos, was healthy when she left for school but never made it back home alive.
While the school claimed the child drowned in the swimming pool, the grieving mother alleged that her daughter was electrocuted and that the school attempted to cover it up by placing her body in the pool. This shocking claim has sparked outrage and widespread calls for accountability.
The Lagos State Safety Commission has since launched an investigation into the incident. Officials from the Safety Commission, the Office of Education Quality Assurance, and the Ministry of Education visited the school to determine what truly happened.
The school remains sealed while investigations continue. In a statement, the government expressed its condolences to the family and reassured the public of its commitment to preventing such tragedies.
Lanre Mojola, Director-General of the Safety Commission, emphasized the importance of schools adhering to safety regulations to avoid future accidents, adding that further updates would be shared once the investigation is concluded.
