5 Nigerian S3x Workers Arrested in Ghana During Police Raid in Ashanti Region
Ghanaian police have arrested five Nigerian women for engaging in prostitution during a targeted crime prevention operation in the Ashanti Region.
The arrest was carried out by the Asokwa District Police Command as part of a swoop exercise aimed at reducing crime and curbing illicit activities within the Asokwa Municipality. The operation, which took place on Tuesday, July 30, 2025, led to the arrest of twelve suspects in total — seven men and five women. Eyes Of Lagos reports,
According to the official police statement, the five Nigerian women confessed to being involved in s3x work as a means of survival. The suspects were arrested at different hotspots, including Sokoban Wood Village, an area reportedly known for high s3x work activity.
The arrested Nigerian women were identified as:
-
Empress David, 22
-
Sonia Isaac, 24
-
Loveth Michael, 18
-

“On 30/7/25, between the hours of 1800 and 2000, the Asokwa District Command embarked on a swoop exercise within Asokwa Municipality. During the exercise, 12 people were arrested,” the statement from the Asokwa Police Command reads.
“Five of the suspects are female Nigerians who admitted having been engaging in prostitution at Sokoban Wood Village,” the statement continued.
In addition to the women, seven male suspects were also arrested in separate locations across ghettos and drug-prone areas. These individuals were reportedly picked up from areas suspected to be ‘Wee’ bases — illegal hangouts linked to drug use and petty crimes.
The names and ages of the male suspects are as follows:
-
Jacob Amaliba, 30
-
Usif Awuro, 39
-
Adu Kofi, 22
-
Kwame Atobiga, 39
-
Isaac Boamah, 27
-
Emmanuel Boakye, 29

The police stated that though no incriminating items were found during the search, all suspects are currently in custody and will undergo profiling and background screening.
The swoop forms part of Ghanaian security authorities’ ongoing crackdown on urban crime, prostitution, drug trafficking, and illegal migration activities — particularly in commercial and border areas like Ashanti, Accra, and Western Regions.
The arrest has sparked conversations online, particularly among Ghanaians and Nigerians, with many calling for better border control, while others are urging both governments to focus on the socioeconomic conditions that push young people — especially women — into survival sex work in foreign countries.
As of press time, the Ghana Police Service has not announced any court dates or formal charges against the suspects, but investigations are said to be actively ongoing.
