Heartman’s childhood and education
Heartman was born and raised in Hohoe in the Volta region in Ghana. He also had most of his early education there. He attended New Generation Preparatory school and Global Evangelical Academy where he gained his primary education in Juapong in the Volta region.
He however relocated from the Volta region to Greater Accra region where he attended Junior High School.
He started at Rev Herman Osam Affanie School (HOAPSCO) and completed at Pokuase MA School where he acquired his Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) certificate.
Heartman further continued to the secondary school at Mawuli Senior High school in Ho and gained his West African Students Certificate Examination (WASSCE) certificate as well.
He then continued to the tertiary level at the Ghana School of Surveying and Mapping to acquire HND in Land survey and mapping.
Music for Heartman started at a tender age, where he used to entertain people with raps from Sarkodie, Edem, Lil Wayne, Jay Z just to mention a few.
He started writing his own lyrics in primary 5. Fast forward in 2015 he started recording his songs.
As an up and coming hip hop/afro pop artist, he made an impressive impact as he has had the opportunity to be on the same platform with artists like Pappy Kojo,Kwaw Kese, Kula, Savaga and Belvan Kadima among others. He has won a couple of awards during his secondary education. He was adjudged best rapper and promising artist of the year 2016/2017 academic year at Mawuli School.
He draws inspiration from artists such as Sarkodie, El, Edem, Stonebwoy and other finest composers. Heartman hopes to break boundaries with his talent not only in Ghana but all over the world.
He’s currently signed unto a Ghanaian base record label and management Beljam Records, owned by Legendary Ghanaian songstress Mzbel
He started his music career in 2021 while still in the university. He got signed to Beljam Records on February 2019 after he was discovered by Mzbel through a rap reality show on Angel TV. Prior to his affiliation with Beljam Records,Managed by Emmanuel Boafo Opare (Mod De) Heartman’s stage name was Lyrics Jay. Heartman’s first hit song was “FOR YOU” which was released in JANUARY 20201.
