Following the heavy downpour witnessed in Lagos, Friday, May 25, 2018, some Lagos Mainland residents were affected by the rainfall.
Communities such as Ojota, Ketu, Bariga, Ikeja, Ogba and Ikorodu all witnessed heavy flooding due to the heavy rainfall which lasted for several hours.
According to Eyes Of Lagos findings, the flood was caused as a result of drainages blocked majorly with plastic wastes.
“Many motorists were forced to park their vehicles as others forced their way through the flood. Commuters who were trapped due to the flooding had to trek to their place of work,” .
Meanwhile, the flood led to a heavy traffic gridlock around Maryland, Anthony, Oba Akran and Agric in Ikorodu with several road users trapped in the gridlock.
Recall that a similar scenario played around few days ago when it rained for about an hour with residents stuck in a gridlock that lasted for more than four hours in some parts of the Lagos Mainland.
The development has however led to a call to the government from residents who believe its high time a lasting solution is found on flooding in the State.
