The Special Adviser to the Governor of Lagos State on Education, Mr. Obafela Bank-Olemoh, has said that the Lagos State Government has completed the renovation of public libraries in 18 secondary schools across the state.
Announcing that the state will unveil the Lagos Digital Library in February, Bank-Olemoh, said the upgrade of the public libraries in schools across the six education districts was in line with the commitment of the present administration to broaden the access to knowledge.
The official said that the libraries are equipped with facilities such as new furniture, books, computer systems and internet facilities.
He added that the libraries would make learning fun and contribute to improving exam outcomes for pupils.
He said, “The online library will be accessible via an internet connection on a range of devices from desktop computers to feature phones. The initial content will include over 1,600 video tutorials and 2,000 study aids on core subjects from primary to senior secondary school curriculum.
He also added that members of the public would be given opportunity to participate in a “Design Our Logo” competition, which will commence on January 20, towards the launch of the project.
“Other content will include quality research papers from Lagos State Tertiary institutions covering a wide variety of topics digitised for the platform, vocational training videos, creatively presented history lessons and online courses on coding.”
