Oyo PDP Chieftain Akika, who was abducted, is released

Benedict Akika, the leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and an ally of Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, was abducted a week ago, but he is now free.

Gunmen abducted Akika from his Olorunda home in Ibadan, the state capital of Oyo State.
The lawmaker was freed on Wednesday night, according to sources.

As of the time this article was filed, Eyes Of Lagos was unable to establish with certainty whether a ransom was paid to secure his release.

Apparently, Akika was sent to a hospital for testing.
His supporters prayed for God’s release through religious prayers just a few days earlier.

As the well-loved Bene, he helped the Lagelu local government’s Akobo-Olorunda axis. Bene’s actions led to the installation of Bene as Agbaakin of Olorunda by the traditional rulers, who did this because of his strong relationship to the governor.
