Islamic singer Rukayat Gawat is dead

Many Nigerians are shocked by the news that Rukayat Gawat Oyefeso, a popular Islamic singer, has passed away.

She was well-known for her devotional songs and had a voice that enthralled many Muslims. Eyes Of Lagos reports,

The popular preacher Alfa Aribidesi At-Tawdeeh Islamic Da’awah, whose main office is in Ilorin, shared the news of her passing early on Tuesday on his official Facebook page.

“Our condolences to the family of Ruqayat Gawat for this tragic loss,” he added. May Allah pardon her transgressions! Gone is Ruqayat Gawat!

Her admirers and the greater Islamic music world have been informed of her demise extensively, and they are deeply saddened by it.

Jubril A. Gawat, the deceased’s brother and family member, has confirmed this tragic news in the interim.

On Tuesday morning, Jubril—a Senior Special Assistant on New Media to Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu—quoted a passage from the Quran on his X account.

Concurrently, Alhaja Misturah Aderounmu, also known as TeminiSuccess1, a deceased colleague, shared a post on Monday afternoon regarding life’s vanity on her TikTok account.

Reactions from fans were uncertain as to what prompted her post not until this morning when the news of Gawat’s death went viral.

Her post captioned in a video of her being morose read, “In the spirit of hustling, may we not be brought home dead.”
