Afrobeats star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, recently revealed that his international tours often include special invitations to dine with presidents in many countries he visits. In an interview with Kiss Fresh London, Davido shared that his fame has led him to connect with influential figures, including the president of the World Bank and leaders of prominent nations. He expressed heartfelt appreciation for the support from his global fanbase, particularly in Africa.
“Almost every country we visit, the president invites us to dinner, except in the United Kingdom and the United States,” he said. “It’s amazing to see the warmth. Coming from Nigeria and being welcomed like a leader in other countries shows how much Nigerian music and culture have spread worldwide.” Eyes Of Lagos reports,
Davido also mentioned that his Jamaican collaborator, YG Marley, was surprised by the overwhelming support from fans during their recent project together.
In addition, Davido recently announced his new single, Awuke, featuring YG Marley. This release marks his return to solo music since his fourth studio album, Timeless, launched in March 2023.
While he has stayed active through collaborations like the popular remixes “Twe Twe” with Kizz Daniel and “Ogechi” featuring Boypee, Hyce, and Brown Joel, fans have been eagerly awaiting his next solo track. His latest single ventures into the Amapiano genre, a fresh shift from his usual Afrobeats sound, with YG Marley, the grandson of reggae icon Bob Marley, joining him on the track.
