Delta Police Probe Beheading of Pastor Oputeh Monday in Ukwuani LGA

The Delta State Police Command has launched an investigation into the brutal murder of Pastor Oputeh Monday, who was gruesomely killed and beheaded by unknown assailants in Umuebu community, Ukwuani Local Government Area. Eyes Of Lagos reports,

The tragic incident occurred on Saturday, September 27, 2025. The deceased, aged 59, had reportedly left home early for his farm along the Amai/Umuebu road. According to his son, Oputeh Joshua, 26, his father had instructed the family to join him later with a motorcycle.

However, while on their way to meet him, the family members said they heard gunshots nearby. Rushing into the bush, they were met with a horrifying sight—the lifeless body of Pastor Monday lying on the ground, with his head severed.

Police operatives from the Obiaruku Division quickly responded to the scene, where the corpse was recovered and deposited at Medisar Mortuary, Obiaruku, for preservation and autopsy.

A police source confirmed that preliminary investigations have already begun, alongside intensified patrols in the community to restore confidence among residents.

The motive behind the killing remains unclear, and authorities have assured the public that every effort will be made to bring the perpetrators to justice.
