Mohbad’s father petitions Lagos govt over delay in prosecuting Wunmi, nurse
Mr. Joseph Aloba, father of the late Nigerian singer Ilerioluwa Aloba (known professionally as Mohbad), has formally petitioned the Lagos State Government to prosecute his son’s widow, Omowunmi Aloba, and others implicated in the Coroner’s Inquest into Mohbad’s death. Eyes Of Lagos reports,
Petition Details
The petition, addressed to Lagos State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Lawal Pedro (SAN), was submitted by Aloba’s counsel, Wahab Shittu (SAN). It specifically calls for legal action against Feyisayo Ogedengbe, the auxiliary nurse who administered an injection to Mohbad shortly before his death in September 2023.
Aloba also urged prosecution of others present at Mohbad’s apartment during the incident, particularly individuals who invited the nurse or failed to seek urgent medical attention.
Coroner’s Verdict
The call for prosecution references the July 2025 verdict delivered by Magistrate Taofikat Shotobi, which found the nurse’s actions to be “unlawful and professionally negligent”, noting that she administered the injection without a doctor’s prescription.
Despite the verdict, the petition expresses concern that over two months have passed without any criminal proceedings against the indicted parties.
Legal Demands
The petition stresses the need for justice, stating:
“Our client, as a bereaved father who seeks justice, is deeply troubled by the fact that, despite the clear indictments contained in the Coroner’s verdict, no prosecutorial steps have been taken since July 11, 2025.”
Aloba’s lawyer requested that the Attorney-General initiate prosecution within 14 days, citing the high public interest and sensitivity surrounding the case. The petition further asked that if the government fails to act, his legal team be authorised to prosecute on behalf of the state under the Administration of Criminal Justice Law of Lagos State.
