Nicki Minaj Faces Possible $20M Mansion Loss Over Husband’s Legal Woes

Global rap superstar Nicki Minaj is facing a new legal storm — this time, it’s not about her music or industry feuds, but her multimillion-dollar home. Reports reveal that Minaj could lose her $20 million Hidden Hills mansion in Los Angeles due to a pending court judgment linked to her husband Kenneth Petty’s 2019 assault case. Eyes Of Lagos reports,

The luxurious property, which Minaj purchased in 2022, has now become the center of a heated legal battle as her husband’s ongoing case continues to haunt the couple financially and publicly.

Background: The $500K Assault Judgment

According to court filings obtained by The Real Deal, the issue stems from a judgment won by security guard Thomas Weidenmüller, who sued Kenneth Petty over a 2019 assault incident that allegedly occurred during one of Minaj’s music video shoots.

Weidenmüller accused Petty of attacking him during a heated argument, leading to lasting injuries. A U.S. court later ruled in Weidenmüller’s favor, awarding him a significant financial judgment. However, sources claim that Petty and Minaj have repeatedly ignored payment demands, prompting the plaintiff’s legal team to move toward enforcing the judgment by targeting Minaj’s property.

Court Moves to Seize Hidden Hills Mansion

Weidenmüller’s attorneys recently filed a motion asserting that Minaj’s Hidden Hills residence can cover the outstanding judgment. The filing read:

“The dwelling is subject to a $13,258,000 mortgage lien and a $722,151 homestead exemption, yielding approximately $6 million in equity beyond the lien and exemption. That amount is more than sufficient to satisfy the judgment.”

This means that even after deducting Minaj’s mortgage and other property-related exemptions, there is still around $6 million in available equity — enough to settle the court-ordered payment in full.

Legal experts explain that if the motion is granted, the court could order the forced sale of Nicki Minaj’s mansion to recover the unpaid debt.

Silence From Nicki and Kenneth

So far, Nicki Minaj and Kenneth Petty have remained silent on the situation. Neither has issued an official statement through their representatives, fueling widespread speculation about the rapper’s financial and emotional state amid her husband’s legal woes.

This silence contrasts with Minaj’s usual outspoken personality, especially given her active social media presence and frequent engagement with fans. Sources close to the couple, however, suggest that Minaj is “deeply frustrated” by how Petty’s past continues to affect her personal and professional life.

A Year of Controversy for the ‘Barbie World’ Star

The mansion crisis is only the latest in a series of controversies surrounding the “Super Bass” hitmaker in 2025. Earlier this year, Minaj faced online backlash following heated feuds with fellow rappers and critics, alongside concerns over her husband’s legal restrictions in California.

Kenneth Petty, who is a registered sex offender, was previously sentenced to house arrest and probation violations, which reportedly strained the couple’s lifestyle and limited his ability to attend public events.

Now, with their home on the line, fans are beginning to question whether these compounding legal troubles could eventually impact Nicki Minaj’s brand, endorsements, and business empire.

Public Reaction: Fans Divided

Social media reactions to the unfolding story have been mixed. Some fans sympathized with Minaj, arguing that she shouldn’t suffer financially for her husband’s past mistakes. Others, however, suggested that the superstar knew the risks of marrying someone with a controversial history.

One fan wrote on X (formerly Twitter):

“Nicki deserves better. She’s worked too hard to be dragged down by someone else’s actions.”

Another user countered:

“You can’t separate your spouse’s actions when you share assets. Actions have consequences.”

The debate has reignited conversations about women in the entertainment industry bearing the consequences of their partners’ legal issues — a recurring theme that has shadowed many celebrity marriages.

What’s Next for Nicki Minaj?

Legal experts say the case could take a few weeks to months to resolve, depending on how quickly the court rules on the sale motion. If Minaj’s lawyers intervene and negotiate a settlement, the sale could be avoided. Otherwise, she may be forced to liquidate part of her estate to settle the debt.

Meanwhile, the rapper is reportedly gearing up for new music releases and a potential world tour, though fans worry that the current legal distractions might affect her plans.

Nicki Minaj’s ongoing troubles highlight the interconnected risks of celebrity relationships, public image, and legal accountability. For one of hip-hop’s most powerful women, this latest crisis could either mark a turning point or another chapter in her long, unpredictable journey through fame and controversy.
