Police Close to Uncovering Cause of Crash That K!lled Liverpool Star Diogo Jota and Brother

Authorities in Spain are on the verge of revealing what caused the devastating crash that took the lives of Liverpool FC forward Diogo Jota and his younger brother, Andre Silva. The accident, which happened in the early hours of Thursday morning on the A-52 motorway near Zamora, has left the football world in mourning. Eyes Of Lagos reports,

Spain’s Guardia Civil and traffic investigators are analyzing critical data related to the brothers’ £180,000 acid-green Lamborghini Huracan, which veered off the highway at high speed. It is believed the vehicle suffered a tyre blowout while overtaking another car near the town of Cernadilla, approximately ten miles from the Portuguese border.

The luxury supercar—capable of reaching 200 mph—was left mangled beside the motorway. Photos from the scene reveal the front of the Lamborghini completely crumpled, pointing to the severity of the impact.

Officials have not yet confirmed whether Diogo or Andre was behind the wheel at the time of the crash. Alfonso Ibáñez, head of traffic in Zamora, is leading the investigation, which includes reviewing road data for that stretch, already known for its deadly reputation. So far in 2025, six people have lost their lives on the A-52, compared to 11 deaths in 2024.

Road conditions are a major focus of the probe. Local reports cite potholes, poor lane markings, recent construction, and wildlife hazards as key concerns. Just a day before the fatal incident, a 60-year-old woman was seriously injured in a separate crash on the same stretch of road.

The Jota brothers were reportedly heading to Santander, where they planned to board an overnight ferry to the UK. Portuguese media revealed that Diogo had recently undergone lung surgery and was advised to avoid air travel. The trip followed his June 22 wedding to longtime partner, Rute, in Porto.

Andre Silva, 26, also a professional footballer, died at the scene alongside Diogo. Both were laid to rest in Porto on Saturday, as tributes poured in from fans, teammates, and clubs across Europe.

Investigators are currently focused on determining the exact speed of the Lamborghini, the cause of the tyre failure, and the sequence of events leading up to the crash. Authorities suspect the car veered left after overtaking, crashing directly into a barrier.

Despite extensive analysis, several key questions remain unanswered. Who was driving? Was a manufacturing fault involved? Could poor road maintenance have played a decisive role?

As the football world awaits official findings, the tragic deaths of Diogo Jota and Andre Silva continue to send shockwaves through the global sports community—and reignite calls for improved road safety across Spain’s motorways.

  1. Diogo Jota & Andre Silva, both had perished in the Lamborghini Haracan car crashed on 03 Jul 2025 @ A-52 Highway in Samora, Spain. There are some possibilities that led to their deaths.
    1. The car was rented & its safe working conditions were unknown —>
    All-wheel drive model has 639 hp, Rear-wheel has 610 hp & Top speed = 325 km/h
    2. If Jota were to own this car & drive it comfortably, then he would be well versed in handling it.
However, if he seldom drive this type, then he would be unable to manipulate the vehicle easily; esp
overtaking another vehicle suddenly / speeding & etc.
    3. Since they were famous Soccer Players, so foul-play was one of the probable possibilities.
