Pregnant Corps Member Attends POP While in Labour, Welcomes Baby Same Day
A Nigerian corps member has gone viral after sharing her inspiring experience of attending her NYSC Passing Out Parade (POP) while already in labour—and later welcoming her baby boy on the same day. Eyes Of Lagos reports,
From Contractions to POP Ceremony
In a TikTok video posted by @stephychizzy, the young lady revealed that she had been experiencing contractions a day before her POP. Despite being 4cm dilated and admitted to the hospital, she was determined not to miss the milestone of collecting her NYSC certificate.
With the help of her brother, she sneaked out of the hospital to attend the ceremony. Dressed in her khaki uniform, she proudly collected her certificate before returning to the hospital.
Double Celebration: Certificate and Baby Boy
Upon her return, nurses were surprised to find she had left earlier despite her condition. Shortly after, she successfully gave birth to a baby boy, turning the day into a double celebration of service completion and motherhood.
Her husband and sister were by her side throughout the ordeal, while her mother—captured in the viral video—expressed overwhelming joy at the blessing of both achievements in one day.
