Rivers Police Arrest Security Guard for Alleged Abduction and Assault of 14-Year-Old Girl in Port Harcourt
Operatives of the Rivers State Police Command have arrested a security guard, identified as Godday, over allegations of abducting and sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl in the Mothercat axis of Trans-Amadi, Port Harcourt.
According to reports, the suspect was apprehended last Tuesday by officers of the Amadi Police Division with support from security operatives of a nearby bank. Eyes Of Lagos reports,
Speaking with journalists, the victim’s mother revealed that she had sent her daughter to withdraw money from an ATM when the guard allegedly dragged the teenager into the bank where he worked and attacked her.
“On Saturday, September 20, 2025, around 1 pm, I wasn’t feeling well, so I gave my daughter money for transportation and asked her to help me withdraw cash. After some time, I called her but she didn’t pick up. When she finally answered, her voice was very low, and she said she was on her way home,” the distraught mother narrated.
When the girl eventually returned home, her clothes were drenched in water and stained with blood. She also had visible bruises on her face, neck, and legs, with a swollen jaw and eye.
The family immediately reported the matter to the Amadi Police Division before taking the victim to the hospital for medical treatment. Upon regaining some strength, the girl recounted how the suspect had followed her from one ATM point to another before dragging her into his duty post at Mothercat, locking the gate, and assaulting her.
The victim also alleged that the suspect beat her unconscious during the struggle. When she regained consciousness hours later, he ordered her to leave. In addition to the attack, the sum of ₦340,000, which she had withdrawn, was reportedly missing.
The mother, in tears, lamented the trauma her daughter suffered, insisting that justice must prevail.
Confirming the incident, the spokesperson of the Rivers State Police Command, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, stated:
“Yes, the suspect has been arrested. The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID), Port Harcourt, for further investigation.”
The Rivers Police Command assured that a thorough investigation would be carried out to ensure justice for the victim and her family.
