Tension in Lagos as Area Boys Stage Protest Against Iyabo Ojo Over Mohbad Case

There was palpable tension in parts of Lagos as a group of area boys staged a public protest targeting Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo, amid her continued involvement in the high-profile case surrounding the death of fast-rising singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad. Eyes Of Lagos reports,

In a viral video circulating online, over half a dozen young men took to the streets, wielding placards and chanting aggressively. The protestors displayed large printed images of Iyabo Ojo, Mohbad’s widow Wunmi, and the late singer himself, while shouting inflammatory remarks.

One of the most striking placards read:

“E no go beta for Iyabo Ojo”,
a direct threat reflecting their frustration over her perceived meddling in the case.

The protest comes on the heels of recent revelations by high-profile lawyer Emeka Ugwuonye, who disclosed that unnamed parties may be plotting against Iyabo Ojo due to her outspoken stance. Ugwuonye—currently representing May Edochie in a separate celebrity legal battle—reportedly advised Iyabo to tread carefully and consider legal protection.

Many social media users have since rallied in support of Iyabo Ojo, urging her not to back down while also advising her to prioritize her safety.

The actress has been vocal since Mohbad’s death, joining advocacy efforts that demand justice and transparency. Her activism, while applauded by fans, has seemingly drawn the ire of street groups and controversial figures tied to the case.

As the investigation into Mohbad’s mysterious death continues, this latest protest underscores the deepening divide between factions involved and highlights the increasing threats faced by public advocates.
