“You Put 2-Bedroom Flat for ₦2.5M and Say You Don’t Want Yahoo Boys” – Man Blasts Asaba Landlords
A young Nigerian man has gone viral after publicly calling out landlords in Asaba, Delta State, over what he described as the outrageous cost of house rents.
In the trending video, the man expressed frustration that landlords are charging ₦2.5 million to ₦3 million for a two-bedroom flat, yet openly declare that they do not want internet fraudsters (yahoo boys) as tenants. Eyes Of Lagos reports,
“Which Normal Worker Fit Pay ₦3 Million Rent?”
Visibly upset, he posed a direct question to landlords:
“Asaba landlords, how you go put 2-bedroom flat for ₦2.5 million, ₦3 million and you go open mouth say you no want yahoo boy?”
He went further to ask if such landlords were “mentally alright,” arguing that no civil servant or regular worker could afford such rent based on Nigeria’s minimum wage and average salaries.

According to him, landlords are indirectly targeting fraudsters and wealthy individuals, since ordinary Nigerians cannot pay such huge amounts for accommodation.
He stressed that with the current economic hardship, it was unrealistic for anyone with a legitimate income to comfortably spend millions on rent.
Nigerians React Online
The man’s outburst has triggered mixed reactions across social media:
-
Some users agreed that house rents in Asaba and other major Nigerian cities are now beyond reach for average citizens.
-
Others blamed landlords for contributing to rising urban inequality by setting prices only the rich or fraudsters can afford.
The debate has added to ongoing conversations about housing affordability and the widening gap between cost of living and income levels in Nigeria.
How can you put a 2 bedroom flat for 2.5 million Naira and say you don’t want a Yah00 boy as tenant? Can a civil servant afford such amount💔?
