Police Reveal Why Regina Daniels’ Brother, Sammy West, Was Arrested and Denied Bail
The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has explained the circumstances surrounding the arrest and arraignment of Samuel Ojeogwu, popularly known as Sammy West, the brother of Nollywood actress Regina Daniels. Eyes Of Lagos reports,
The police clarified that the arrest was based on a formal petition received on October 28, 2025, alleging criminal conspiracy, trespass, assault, intimidation, theft, and cyberbullying against the social media personality.
In a statement released by the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, the command confirmed that multiple invitations had been extended to Sammy West before his eventual arrest.
“Following a petition received on October 28, 2025, alleging a series of criminal offences including conspiracy, trespass, assault, intimidation, theft, and cyberbullying, the suspect, Mr. Samuel Ojeogwu, also known as Sammy West, was invited for questioning on several occasions but failed to honour police invitations,” the statement read.
SP Adeh added that the suspect was later apprehended in Lagos under a valid court warrant and subsequently transferred to Abuja for further investigation. She further disclosed that he had since been charged to court and remanded in custody pending the fulfilment of his bail conditions.
“Mr. Ojeogwu was arrested in Lagos following due legal procedure and brought to Abuja where he was arraigned on November 6, 2025. He has been remanded in prison custody until he meets the bail conditions set by the court,” Adeh said.
The command emphasized that the case remains before a competent court of law and that due process was strictly followed throughout the arrest and detention procedures.
Earlier, Regina Daniels had taken to social media to allege that her estranged husband, Senator Ned Nwoko, was behind her brother’s arrest. The actress claimed that the situation had caused her immense emotional distress, noting that her parents had traveled to Abuja to intervene in the matter.
In a recent video shared on her Instagram page, Regina hinted that she might consider reconciling with Nwoko to secure her brother’s release, accusing the senator of “manipulation and emotional abuse” — allegations which Nwoko’s camp has since denied.
A spokesperson for the senator described Regina’s accusations as “false and misleading,” adding that the ongoing marital issues between the couple were “strictly personal and unrelated to any criminal matter.”
“The senator has no hand in the arrest or detention of anyone. The police acted independently based on a valid petition and ongoing investigation,” the statement from his team read in part.
Meanwhile, the FCT Police Command reiterated its commitment to upholding justice and transparency, urging the public to allow the court process to run its course.
“The case is before the court, and the police have done their part in accordance with the law. Further updates will be provided as the judicial process continues,” SP Adeh stated.
As of press time, efforts to obtain additional comments from Regina Daniels’ family were unsuccessful. However, sources close to the family confirmed that her mother, Rita Daniels, had remained in Abuja in an attempt to secure Sammy West’s bail.
The development marks another chapter in the ongoing controversy surrounding Regina Daniels’ personal life, which has recently drawn significant attention from both fans and the entertainment industry.
