Portable Allegedly Flees as Babymama, Ashabi Simple, Reports Assault to Police

Controversial Nigerian singer Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has reportedly evaded police arrest following allegations that he assaulted his fourth babymama, Nollywood actress Ashabi Simple, during a confrontation in Ogun State. Eyes Of Lagos reports,

The incident was said to have occurred on Thursday, January 1, 2026, when Ashabi visited the singer’s bar in the state. A video of the altercation later surfaced online, quickly going viral and sparking widespread reactions on social media.

In the footage, Ashabi was seen holding Portable’s clothing while expressing anger over being referred to as his “baby mama.” She reportedly insisted that the singer should acknowledge her as his wife rather than merely the mother of his child.

“Oya pami baby, I’m also your wife. You have to stop calling me your baby mama,” she was heard saying in the video.

Portable, however, rejected the claim, stating that he only recognises his wife, Bewaji.

“I only have one wife. The rest of you are baby mamas,” the singer was quoted as saying.

The argument allegedly escalated, with Ashabi responding emotionally, saying, “Then you will have to kill me, baby.”

Following the confrontation, Ashabi and her siblings reportedly lodged a complaint at a police station, accusing the singer of assault and abuse. However, Portable was said to have fled before police officers could arrest him.

In a separate video shared on Instagram, Ashabi claimed that police officers later visited Portable’s residence, where they reportedly met his pregnant wife, Bewaji, but could not find the singer.

Recounting her version of events, the actress alleged that she had been celebrating the New Year with her family when Portable contacted her, complaining about his mood and asking her to bring food to his bar.

She further claimed that upon her arrival, a disagreement broke out outside the bar, during which Portable allegedly slapped and beat her, seized their phones, and threatened her and her siblings with an axe.

The incident has continued to generate mixed reactions online. While some Nigerians have expressed sympathy for Ashabi and called for proper investigation, others have criticised her, accusing her of forcing herself into the singer’s life and questioning her self-worth.

As of the time of filing this report, Portable has not publicly responded to the allegations.
