Lady Calls Off Engagement After Fiancé Defended Cheating in Facebook Comment

A Nigerian lady has reportedly called off her engagement after discovering a Facebook comment made by her fiancé which appeared to justify infidelity, sparking conversations online about values, trust, and red flags in relationships.

The story was shared by Iruoma Chikaodinaka, who took to Facebook to narrate the incident involving her colleague. Eyes Of Lagos reports,

According to Iruoma, her colleague decided to end the relationship after seeing a comment her fiancé made on Facebook, where he reportedly suggested that a man cheating should not be enough reason to end a marriage, as long as he provides for his family.

The comment reportedly alarmed the woman, raising concerns about the man’s beliefs and what the future of the marriage might look like.

Iruoma explained that her colleague’s senior brother came across the comment, took a screenshot, and sent it to her, warning that the relationship was unlikely to succeed if the engagement continued.

She wrote:

“My colleague too returned an engagement ring after she saw the comment of her fiancé saying a man cheating shouldn’t be the reason for a marriage to end as far as he takes care of his family very well, that women like making something out of nothing. My colleague’s senior brother saw the comment, screenshot it and sent it to her, telling her the relationship/marriage will never work.”

Following the advice, the woman reportedly returned the engagement ring and called off the wedding plans.

Iruoma said she shared the story while reacting to another trending relationship issue on social media, where a man reportedly cancelled his wedding after disagreeing with a comment made by his fiancée on the popular “Ada Igbo” story.

The post has since generated widespread reactions, with many social media users debating whether online comments should be treated as serious relationship red flags.
