AFCON 2025: TikToker Peller Loses $3,000 Bet as Super Eagles Crash Out

Popular Nigerian TikToker Peller has expressed deep frustration after losing a $3,000 bet placed on the Super Eagles of Nigeria to defeat Morocco in the semi-final of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

The social media personality made the revelation in a viral video following Nigeria’s dramatic exit from the tournament. The keenly contested semi-final clash ended 0–0 after regulation time, before Morocco edged Nigeria 4–2 on penalties to book a place in the final. Eyes Of Lagos reports,

Reacting to the outcome, Peller lamented that he was unaware his bet would be considered settled after 90 minutes, explaining that he had expected Nigeria to progress regardless of extra time or penalties.

Visibly distressed in the video, the influencer disclosed that he left the viewing centre where he was watching the match out of frustration, while still appealing passionately for the Super Eagles to emerge victorious.

The loss comes at a difficult time for Peller, who recently made headlines after crashing his Mercedes-Benz, compounding his emotional reaction to the failed bet.

Despite the heartbreak, Nigeria’s AFCON 2025 campaign had been impressive prior to the semi-final defeat. The Super Eagles topped Group C with a perfect record, winning all three group-stage matches.

They rounded off the group phase with a convincing 3–1 victory over Uganda, with goals from Paul Onuachu and Raphael Onyedika.

Nigeria had also defeated Algeria 2–0 in the quarter-finals, thanks to goals from Victor Osimhen and Akor Adams, extending their winning run and solidifying their status as one of the tournament favourites.

In total, the Super Eagles won five matches, scoring 14 goals before their penalty shootout defeat to Morocco ended their title hopes.
