Two Lagos Men Arraigned Over Alleged Inflammatory Social Media Posts
Two Lagos residents, Okewale Oluleke and Oluwasegun Oluwasanmi, have been arraigned before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court over alleged inflammatory publications made on social media platforms.
The defendants, aged 48 and 50 respectively, were docked on Thursday by the Lagos State Police on a four-count charge bordering on conspiracy and conduct likely to cause a breach of public peace. Eyes Of Lagos reports,
According to the prosecution, led by Superintendent of Police Josephine Ikhayere, the two men allegedly made the offensive publications between August and December 2025, using Facebook profiles identified as “Lagos Concern” and “Prince Chigo.”
The prosecutor told the court that the social media posts were capable of disturbing public peace and order in Lagos State.
Ikhayere further alleged that Okewale Oluleke sent an electronic message via WhatsApp to a public officer on September 20, 2025, an act she said could incite tension and disrupt public harmony.
The prosecution stated that the alleged offences contravened Sections 412, 413(2), and 416 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
She requested that the defendants be remanded in custody and asked the court to fix a hearing date, adding that the prosecution intended to tender exhibits, including the mobile phones allegedly used to commit the offences.
The defendants pleaded not guilty to all the charges.
In his ruling, Magistrate L.A. Owolabi granted the defendants bail in the sum of ₦400,000 each, with two responsible sureties per defendant.
The case was adjourned until February 26, 2026, for mention and continuation of proceedings.
