Bimbo Ademoye cries out as alleged piracy leads to demonetisation of her movie

Popular Nollywood actress and filmmaker, Bimbo Ademoye, has raised alarm over the alleged piracy of her movie Where Love Lives, accusing an individual of unlawfully claiming ownership of a song used in the film and causing its demonetisation. Eyes Of Lagos reports,

The actress made the allegation via her social media platforms, where she identified the suspect as Emmanuel Davis, said to be affiliated with Lagos Sounds.

According to Ademoye, the song in question was originally composed exclusively for the movie by an artiste known as Uzor and was never released commercially in order to protect the project from piracy.

She alleged that the individual uploaded the song online without authorisation, falsely registered it as his own work, and subsequently claimed copyright ownership, a move that reportedly led to the monetisation takeover of Where Love Lives.

Ademoye lamented that the action resulted in the loss of revenue from the movie, stressing that she would never take credit for work that does not belong to her.

“I will never lay claim to what is not mine,” the actress stated, adding that she is determined to pursue the matter until those responsible are held accountable.

In a further revelation, the actress also called out another alleged pirate identified as Anwuli, whom she accused of sabotaging a separate movie project that had garnered over six million views online.

Ademoye disclosed that attempts were made by one of the accused parties to settle the issue privately, but she refused, insisting that the matter be resolved through legal means.

She emphasised that her decision was driven by the need to protect creative works and discourage piracy within the Nigerian film industry.

The development has sparked conversations online about intellectual property theft, content monetisation abuse, and the growing challenges faced by filmmakers in the digital era.
