Four Feared Dead as Cult-Related Violence Erupts in Parts of Lagos

At least four persons are feared dead following separate cult-related clashes that occurred in different parts of Lagos State over the past few days.

The incidents were reported between Monday and Wednesday across several communities, including Iyana-Ipaja and Aboru in Alimosho Local Government Area; Badore and Olokonla in Ajah, Eti-Osa Local Government Area; as well as Onipanu near Fadeyi and Satellite Town. Eyes Of Lagos reports,

In Badore, one person identified simply as Chidera was reportedly killed on Friday during a violent confrontation involving suspected rival cult groups.

Videos and photographs circulating on social media also showed at least three individuals with serious injuries sustained during clashes in Iyana-Ipaja and Aboru. The victims were seen with visible wounds to their heads and upper bodies.

Similarly, violent clashes were reported in the Onipanu area near Fadeyi, where a man identified only as Israel was allegedly shot dead. Footage from the incident showed the victim lying motionless after sustaining gunshot injuries.

In Satellite Town, another man was found dead at NEPA Junction last Wednesday, although it remains unclear whether the incident was directly linked to cult violence.

While official confirmation was initially awaited from the Lagos State Police Command regarding some of the incidents, the publication later received information that another man was killed on Monday morning at Baba Adisa Bus Stop, Ibeju-Lekki.

The victim, identified only as Alabama, was reportedly found lying motionless on the pavement.

Confirming one of the incidents, the spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, Mrs Abimbola Adebisi, said the killing in Satellite Town had been confirmed and was being treated as a suspected murder.

“The receipt of these incidents from you yesterday prompted me to reach out to all the Divisional Police Officers in charge of the locations mentioned. None confirmed the incidents, except the one at Satellite Town, which was confirmed as a suspected murder,” she said.

According to her, the case is currently under investigation and will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti, for further action.

The police have urged residents to remain calm and report any suspicious activities to security agencies, as investigations into the incidents continue.
