Why I Refuse Kissing Scenes — Juliana Olayode Breaks Silence on Rumours

Nollywood actress Juliana Olayode has spoken out against what she described as hurtful and misleading rumours circulating about her within the Nigerian film industry, revealing that the claims have taken an emotional toll on her.

The actress made the disclosure in a post shared on her Instagram page, where she condemned the spread of false information about individuals, describing such actions as unnecessary and damaging. Eyes Of Lagos reports,

Olayode questioned the motive behind peddling unverified claims about people’s personal and professional lives, stressing that words have the power to wound deeply.

Clarifying her position, the actress stated that she remains open to working with filmmakers across the industry and has no restrictions on collaborating with producers or directors, except where such roles conflict with her personal values and religious beliefs.

She also reiterated her long-standing decision not to engage in kissing scenes in movies, explaining that the choice is rooted in her spiritual commitment and dedication to her faith.

“There have been different stories and lies told about me in this industry. I never addressed any, but I heard one a few days ago that truly broke my heart,” she wrote.
“I don’t think people understand how destructive some words can be and how words can wound. I genuinely don’t understand why anyone would choose to lie about another human being. To what end? Why? It is true that I wouldn’t kiss in movies.”

Olayode added that criticism of her acting abilities or personal preferences does not disturb her, but deliberate misinformation does.

“It’s okay if you don’t like me. It’s okay if you say I’m not a good actor; it’s okay if you don’t want to work with me. But lying about me is deeply wrong and hurtful,” she said.

The actress further emphasised that there is no filmmaker she is unwilling to work with, provided the storyline and her role do not contradict her religious convictions.

“So I want to clear the air. There is absolutely no producer or director I cannot work with. I am open and willing to work with anyone, as long as the story and my role do not go against my consecration to God,” she added.
