Veteran Nollywood actress-turned-evangelist Eucharia Anunobi has ignited conversations on relationships and marriage after sharing what she described as a “bitter truth” about intimacy before marriage.
In a message posted on her Instagram page on Friday, February 13, 2026 — a day before Valentine’s Day — the actress cautioned couples that engaging in sexual intimacy before marriage could prevent them from seeing a partner’s true character. Eyes Of Lagos reports,
According to her, physical attraction and chemistry often create emotional blind spots that only become clear after marriage.
“Sex before marriage will always blindfold you not to see the flaws in your partner’s character. Until you are legally married and begin to live under the same roof, you can never ever see the true character of your partner,” she stated
Anunobi also stressed that dating for years does not automatically translate into a successful marriage, noting that real compatibility is often tested only when couples begin married life together.
The evangelist, known for her outspoken views on morality and faith-based living, advised couples to avoid prolonged relationships without direction and instead focus on foundational compatibility factors.
She explained that if key pillars such as shared values, vision, emotional connection, and mutual respect align, couples should consider moving forward toward marriage rather than “wasting each other’s time.”
Her comments have since generated mixed reactions on social media, with some users agreeing with her faith-based perspective, while others argued that compatibility can also be assessed during courtship before marriage.
Relationship conversations often trend around Valentine’s Day, as individuals reflect on love, commitment, and long-term partnership decisions.
