Nollywood comic actor and content creator Bamidele Tope Saint, popularly known as Okemesi, has reportedly fallen into a coma following complications linked to medication administered during a previous hospital treatment.
The update was shared by fellow actor Jeff Owolewa, also known as Tony Montana, in an Instagram post on Monday night. Eyes Of Lagos reports,
The development comes only days after Okemesi moved into a new apartment that was reportedly secured for him through public donations and support. The actor had earlier appealed for financial assistance after battling an illness that left him homeless.
According to Jeff, Okemesi was re-hospitalised after experiencing severe complications believed to be connected to drugs given during his earlier treatment when he was discharged from the hospital last week.
He also alleged that several hospitals initially declined to admit the actor due to lack of available bed space before he was eventually taken back to the private hospital where his treatment had originally begun.
Jeff revealed that Okemesi has been unconscious since Monday morning and is currently on oxygen support while doctors monitor his condition.
“Guys, Okemesi has been hospitalised again. He was sleeping all through Saturday and Sunday without having much appetite for food due to complications from the drugs that were given to him from the hospital when he was discharged last week.
I rushed to his house very early on Monday to take him to hospital. He was rejected in different hospitals including a government hospital in Igodo. The doctor refused to attend to him saying there’s no bed space. I had to take him back to the first private hospital that started his treatment.
His breathing is improving. So, he has been in coma since Monday morning. They have placed him on oxygen. We’re all praying that he gets back on track.”
Colleagues and fans have since taken to social media to express concern and solidarity, offering prayers for his recovery while also calling for financial assistance to support ongoing medical treatment.
