Achraf Hakimi, defender for Paris Saint-Germain and the Morocco national team, is set to face a legal battle in France following a rape allegation he has strongly denied.
In a statement shared on his social media platform X (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday, Hakimi maintained his innocence, stressing that he is prepared to defend himself in court. Eyes Of Lagos reports,
“Today, a rape accusation is enough to justify a trial, even though I deny it and everything proves it’s false,” he wrote.
The footballer added that the situation is unfair both to innocent individuals and to genuine victims of sexual violence, noting that he remains calm and confident that the truth will emerge during the judicial process.
The prosecutor’s office in Nanterre, France, initially opened an investigation into the matter in 2023 after the allegation was reported. Authorities have not released additional details about the case, and legal proceedings are expected to determine the outcome.
Hakimi, who has been a key player for both club and country, continues to deny all accusations as the matter moves toward court review.
