2027 Elections: APC Kicks Off Massive Registration Drive, 11 States Commit to 15 Million Votes for Tinubu
As the 2027 general elections approach, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has launched an extensive membership registration campaign aimed at strengthening its political base and ensuring the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Eyes Of Lagos reports,
The campaign, already in progress in at least seven states, forms a key part of the party’s strategy to retain power and expand its support ahead of the upcoming elections. Sources from Sunday PUNCH reveal that more states are set to join this mass mobilisation initiative, which has already seen strong engagement in Ebonyi, Delta, Enugu, Bayelsa, Edo, Ekiti, and Akwa Ibom.
During the 14th National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting at the State House in Abuja, President Tinubu emphasized the need for grassroots mobilisation, party unity, and a wider membership base. He highlighted that the registration efforts are central to the APC’s preparations, with no less than 11 state chapters pledging to deliver a combined 15 million votes to secure Tinubu’s second term.
“We are opening our doors to more members. The congresses in December will provide space for those still coming in. We welcome them with open arms,” President Tinubu remarked, reinforcing the importance of inclusivity in the party’s growth.
Additionally, President Tinubu welcomed recent defections to the APC, including Governors Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State and Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State, underscoring the party’s openness to opposition members who wish to join the ruling party.
Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, the newly elected APC National Chairman, reiterated the President’s message of unity and expansion. In a recent interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Yilwatda highlighted the party’s control over 23 states and 70 Senate seats, while stressing that the APC is committed to doing the necessary work to attract more members and governors from opposition parties.
“My mission is clear: to unite the party and grow it. We’ll work hard to bring more people in,” Yilwatda stated.
As the registration drive continues, pro-Tinubu support groups and local party structures in various states are already pledging their commitment to securing a strong voter turnout for Tinubu’s re-election bid. The mass registration campaign has become a vital tool in bolstering the party’s presence and influence ahead of the 2027 elections.
This move comes at a time of heightened political competition, with a revitalized opposition coalition, led by the African Democratic Congress (ADC), vowing to challenge the APC’s dominance in the next election. The APC’s push for broader support at the grassroots level reflects its desire to solidify its hold on power amidst the growing political landscape.
