Popular Nigerian music executive and Mavin Records boss, Don Jazzy, has sparked conversation online after admitting that he can’t stay sexually committed to just one woman. Eyes Of Lagos reports,
Speaking during a recent episode of The Nancy Isime Show, the 42-year-old hitmaker and entrepreneur gave candid insights into his views on love, fidelity, and why he’s remained unmarried despite his fame and wealth.
💬 “I’m Not Strong Enough To Be With One Woman”
“I don’t believe I am strong enough to be with [only] one person. I think people will run away from me being truthful,” Don Jazzy revealed.
He continued:
“I will not be dating you and telling you that you’re the only person. Some people have the strength to be sexually committed once they’re attracted to somebody. But the fact that you’re a beautiful lady doesn’t stop me from admiring another woman. She is also beautiful.”
The music mogul’s honesty, while refreshing to some, has also sparked mixed reactions on social media.
🧠 Honesty Over Perception
Don Jazzy made it clear that he would rather be transparent than pretend to meet societal expectations, even if that means women may avoid dating him.
“I know some ladies may avoid me because of this, but I won’t lie to keep a relationship going,” he said.
🔁 Echoes of 2Baba’s Controversial Statement
His comments come just a week after Afrobeat legend 2Baba (2Face Idibia) made a similar controversial statement, claiming that men aren’t biologically wired for monogamy. The backlash forced 2Baba to apologize publicly to his wife, Natasha Osawuru.
“Calling me a legend is an honour, but my talk was unlegendary… I’m sorry to my wife,” 2Baba said in a remorseful Instagram video.
📜 A Brief Look Back
Don Jazzy was briefly married to UK-based writer Michelle Jackson in 2003. The marriage ended two years later. The producer has stated that his ambition and focus on career played a major role in the breakdown of the relationship.
👀 Public Reaction
While some fans praised Don Jazzy’s honesty and self-awareness, others criticized him for reinforcing negative stereotypes about male fidelity.
“At least he’s honest,” wrote one user.
“This is the problem with celebrity culture. They normalize dysfunction,” another user responded.
