Popular Nollywood actors Frederick Leonard and Peggy Ovire have reportedly gone their separate ways, sparking renewed conversations across social media about the status of their marriage.
The couple, who became one of Nollywood’s most talked-about celebrity unions, got married on November 19, 2022, following a traditional wedding ceremony held in Warri, Delta State.
Fresh speculation about the relationship followed a post shared on Instagram by veteran Nollywood movie producer Stanley Ontop, who claimed that the couple had been separated for some time. According to him, the marriage had been troubled and allegedly ended long before the reports resurfaced online. Eyes Of Lagos reports,
In his post, Ontop alleged that the union was forced and characterized by frequent conflicts, suggesting that the couple were incompatible. He further claimed that the separation had occurred a while ago, though he provided no official documentation or confirmation from the parties involved.
The producer also made additional claims regarding the couple’s professional relationship, crediting Peggy Ovire with playing a significant role in Frederick Leonard’s career development. These assertions, however, remain unverified.
Rumours of a possible split between the actors first surfaced in 2023, after Peggy Ovire was noticed appearing publicly without her wedding ring. The development triggered widespread speculation at the time.
Addressing the rumours then, Frederick Leonard dismissed claims of a marital crisis, stating that his marriage is private and not subject to public commentary or online scrutiny.
